What is Heroes for Humanity? This is a transformative COVID recovery initiative launched in seven states in rural India by the Desai Foundation in partnership with S.P. Hinduja Bank launched in June of 2021. Each of our nearly 500 Heroes have been hired, trained and deployed to bring COVID care & vaccine information, food and other supplies, health and hygiene information, vocational programs and more. This program not only transforms the lives of the Heroes, but they have already reached over 2 million people with direct critical services. We are deeply thrilled that this program will continue for the next year, moving beyond COVID work to deliver our existing programs around health, livelihood and menstrual health and impacting millions of more lives in rural India! We would like to thank Shruti Ganguly & Honto88 for this powerful film about our COVID relief initiative: Heroes for Humanity. We would also like to thank Nina Davuluri for narrating the film!

We were so thrilled to conclude Menstrual Health Month with a thought-provoking panel on Menstrual Empowerment featuring those who have been leading voices in the Menstrual Equity movement to speak on menstrual health, celebrate the stories of menstruators, and discuss how we can break stigmas by shifting community mindsets, media, and policy! Here are a few inspiring quotes from some of our amazing panelists, Congresswoman Grace Meng and Rachel Roy! ❣️ Full recording of the panel in our bio! .

This is belief is still upheld in many parts of the world. Women who are menstruating are thought to be “unclean” and are not allowed to enter holy places like temples to worship. This form of gender inequality limits women from practicing their religion and further stigmatizes menstruation, fostering an environment of humiliation, shame and guilt. If you believe in God, you are worthy of God’s love every day of the year!🩸 It’s not too late to Pledge Your Period! You can help end harmful myths like these by taking the #PledgeYourPeriod challenge or by donating. This year’s challenge: show yourself breaking a period stigma on social media. For every 10 #PledgeYourPeriod posts, @Ranavat will be donating $100 to our Asani Sanitary Napkin Program! 🩸 Here’s a tip: you can repost this stigma post and tag us to have it counted as a #PYP pledge! Learn more at www.pledgeyourperiod.com (link in bio).
